WHERE'S VESPRINI?: SEXY MUSIC
Friday September 06, 2013
Yes guilty as charged views from the world of Vesprini have been rarer than glimpses of Webby’s union jack trousers or Jason Garrity minus his plaster. There are a number of reasons for this which I won’t bore you with suffice to say I’ve been shamed into putting a few words down as the season enters the final straight so here they are.
First of all I’d just like to say CUP FINAL!!!! Ah I feel better for that any chance to finally lay to rest the debacle that was KO Cup 1992 is a good one in my book, hopefully this time Edinburgh and Somerset will race themselves into the ground leaving the mighty Rockets to pick up the pieces. Whatever happens it will be a special Saturday night and a sign that things are finally going back in the right direction. You never know even the Lord Lucan of Hoddesdon, Mr Garrity might be up for it although I have to say at the moment young Ben is doing a great job producing probably the form of his career so far. The semi against Redcar took most of us by surprise as the general feeling was the Bears would put up a good fight on a track that was likely to be a gaters paradise. Whilst the latter was generally true our lads stepped up to the mark in impressive style. You can only wonder what would have happened if everyone had stayed fit and Pontus would have started the season. Our newest Scandinavian continues to impress and also be on the end of a few sharp one liners from his skipper who quipped after the lad had looped off the second bend and fallen on the base of his spine. “ I thought he looked a couple of inches shorter when he was walking back to the pits!â€
One thing missing from Saturdays occasion was Craig’s dulcet tones as he was returning from holiday and I understand that while he was away there was a complaint received about playing “sexy music†over the PA now without too much disrespect to John & Brynn who deputise for our super presenter the word sexy isn’t the first (or the 1,000th) word that comes to mind when you think of the pair of them. Perhaps on his return for the Workington meeting Craig can ensure we have a playlist which has nothing more racey than Julie Andrews and the occasional bit of Cliff Richard to get the pulses going. There’s just a couple of weeks until the NLRC and I’m still waiting news from my mole on the inside as to whether a certain garden ornament from Kent will be making an appearance on the start line. Whether he makes it or not it will be interesting to see how Stevie B fares on his old stomping ground. Having witnessed a few of his showings at Central Park this season he certainly looks to be getting back to his best. Finally with every sport looking for sponsorship opportunities I think John Sampford has been missing out all these years, every time I catch up with him after a meeting these days he always has his teeth embedded in a shiny apple. Very healthy and surely an opportunity for Tonights Team Manager sponsored by Granny Smiths!
